International Internships works with The University of Queensland to offer an exciting range of internships that will give you on-the-job experience in an international setting.

You can:
- Gain credit towards your university course (with faculty approval)
- Receive a government NCP grant of up to $6,000 or OS-HELP loan of up to $9,839
- Develop the intercultural working skills that employers seek

- Internship placement based on your interests and career ambitions
- Private room accommodation in a shared apartment or co-living arrangement
- Pre-departure support, including visa advice and sponsorship where required

Learn Indonesian: Complete language classes at Universitas Indonesia (UI) or Universitas Mulawarman (UM) — two of Indonesia’s top universities. The program is designed for all levels, from beginners to advanced speakers, with resources to continue improving throughout your internship.

Course credit
We support you to earn credit for your course at UQ University
Both domestic and international students are eligible to join this program, although you must be an Australian citizen to be eligible to receive an NCP grant. See ‘Grants & funding’ for more information.

There are a number of subjects available at UQ through which you can earn academic credit for completing an internship. You should talk to a course adviser to discuss your options.

Grants & funding
NCP grants of up to $6,000 are available for these internships

New Colombo Plan (NCP)
You are likely to be eligible for an NCP grant if:
- You are an Australian citizen
- You are an undergraduate student
- This experience will count toward your uni degree
- You have received no more than one NCP grant previously (no more than two in total)

See the Program Details above for the grant sizes available, between $4,000 and $6,000. These typically cover most (if not all) of the program fee. And the best part is that they are grants, not loans, so you don’t need to pay them back!

OS-HELP repayable loan
OS-HELP is a loan available to eligible students enrolled in a Commonwealth supported place who plan to undertake some of their study overseas. If your experience with us will count towards the requirements for your Commonwealth supported course in Australia, you may be able to borrow up to $9,893. You may also be eligible to borrow an extra $1,314 if you study Indonesian language in preparation for your internship. Learn more about OS-HELP here.
