Program features
Industry projects
Work in a small cross-cultural team, alongside students from Australian and Indonesian universities, on a real-world, meaningful project. The project will be assigned by an Indonesian host organisation and will require you to solve a challenge that they are facing and present your outcomes at the program's conclusion. For example, you could work on evaluating the customer experience, developing or expanding a market strategy, product development or product innovation.
Previous Projects

Build knowledge and professional networks
Throughout the program, you will visit a range of organisations and hear from experts in the field, giving you the opportunity to gather the information you require to complete your project and deepen your knowledge of Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Potential organisations that you are likely to visit or hear from as part of the organised seminars and workshops include:
- Private equity and venture capitalists (e.g. GDP Venture, Raiz Invest);
- Consulting firms (e.g. Edelman, KPMG), corporate law firms (e.g. S&T).
- Start-ups that have made an impact (e.g. Dekoruma, Tiket.com, Dana)
- Australian and Indonesian government departments (e.g. Australian Embassy Indonesia, Jakarta Smart City, the Victorian Government Trade & Investment Office Jakarta and Indonesia Australia Business Council)
Where possible, we will also attend a professional networking event hosted by industry bodies such as the Indonesia-Australia Business Council.
Cultural immersion & networking
You will be immersed in Indonesian culture, supporting you to develop a close friendship group, transferrable intercultural working skills and fantastic memories. This includes:
- An intercultural working session, designed to provide transferrable skills that employers seek
- An Indonesian language class covering the basics
- Interaction with local Indonesian students, who are invited to join the project teams
- A fun activity to help you explore Jakarta alongside the Indonesian students
- Visits to exciting culturally significant sites, such as the Old City, or Masjid Istiqlal (Independence Mosque)
