This is what our interns had to say about the program:

It was a well-balanced program providing great insight into various companies and general cultural awareness of Indonesia. We have a great variety of company visits, cultural awareness activities, group work and free time. Overall it was fun, insightful and memorable 🙂 Mia Savic – 2023 Entrepreneurship Intensive Participant – Develop your own start-up.

I learned about the culture which taught me so many things such as kindness and respectful. I learned professionalism lessons such as creating business, running business and networking.
I would describe my connection with Indonesia after having completed the program as blessed, interesting and inspiring. International Internships staff and people met are so friendly. Nazdana Nabizadah – 2023 Entrepreneurship Intensive Participant – Industry Innovation Project.

I had lots of fun and learned a lot of things. Made many new friends and enjoyed my experience. Rani and Indah (from International Internships) were really cool and supportive. My buddy Adit and Alifa (Indonesian participants) in Indonesia will be my friends for a long time. Malcolm Prakash Dass – 2023 Entrepreneurship Intensive Participant – Industry Innovation Project.

Project Options:

Choose from two options:

Option 1: Develop Your Own Start-up *
Bring your start-up, be it a recent venture or business concept, that you aim to expand through collaborations in Asia. Enjoy mentoring sessions along with the scheduled visits. This opportunity is ideal for those seeking to explore markets and expand their ventures in the Asian market.

* Please note that this option is not available for June 2024. However, we welcome you to get in touch to express interest in this option for future programs.

Option 2: Industry Innovation Project
Work in a small cross-cultural team, alongside students from Australian and Indonesian universities, on a real-world, meaningful project. The project will be assigned by an Indonesian host organisation and will require you to solve challenge that they are facing. For example, you could work on evaluating the customer experience, developing or expanding a market strategy, product development or product innovation.

For both project options, you will present your findings to your colleagues and your host (if applicable) at the program’s closing.

Organisational Visits:

Throughout the program, you will visit a range of organisations and hear from experts in the field, giving you the opportunity to gather the information you require to complete your project and deepen your knowledge of Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

Potential organisations that you are likely to visit or hear from as part of the organised seminars and workshops include:

Cultural Immersion & Network Building:

This program has been designed to provide important transferable skills to help you work in a multicultural environment and to build your professional and social networks, so you are ready to launch your international career. The cultural activities will include basic Indonesian language lessons, a brief introduction to contemporary culture, history and religion of Indonesia and a fun activity to help you discover Jakarta. You will also attend professional networking events with relevant professional bodies.

Why Indonesia?

Indonesia is one of the great success stories of the fastest growing region of the world, South-East Asia. Australia and Indonesia recently signed the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA), which has facilitated further strengthening of this already key relationship and will create career opportunities for Australian graduates with experience in Indonesia for years to come.
