Yayasan Ekosistem Lestari (YEL) is a non profit organization focused on environmental conservation, environmental education, and community development, particularly for communities living near conservation areas. Founded in 2000, the organization works to protect critical ecosystems in Sumatra, including the Leuser Ecosystem, while supporting sustainable livelihoods and raising awareness of environmental issues. Through science based and participatory approaches, YEL implements programs such as orangutan conservation, environmental education, and community engagement to promote long term ecological sustainability and human wellbeing.
