About Us

International Internships facilitates internships and study intensives in Indonesia, primarily for students of Australian universities. Most students that participate in our programs gain academic credit through a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) unit. As part of our programs, we also provide career mentoring, professional skills development, cross-cultural communication and Indonesian language training. We have been facilitating in-country and online programs in Indonesia for over 15 years and are always growing and changing as the environments in which we work grow and change.

We work with a wide range of stakeholders throughout Indonesia and Australia, including individual students, universities and educational institutions, businesses, government bodies and not-for-profits. Our small team punches above its weight and we have excellent working relationships with all our partners, built upon years of mutual trust and productive collaborations.

After successfully pivoting to deliver our programs online in response to COVID-19, we resumed our in-country programs in mid-2022. However, our online programs will continue, due to the positive reception of this mode of delivery with our students and Australian university partners.

Your Role

As our Strategic Marketing Manager, you will be a key driver of our growth. You will use your excellent communication skills to build upon our existing relationships, as well as developing new ones. Collaborating closely with the team in Indonesia, you will draw on your experience in marketing across a range of channels, as well as your creativity and strategic thinking, to drive new engagement with our programs. We have a strong record of filling the programs we run and you will coordinate and refine the methods we have used previously, as well as devising new and creative approaches.

You will also work with the team to selectively expand the scope of our work. With a long and successful track record working between Australia and Indonesia, International Internships is well poised to take on new opportunities that are emerging as the relationship continues to grow stronger.

Our Australian office is in Richmond, Melbourne, but our team in Australia has a hybrid working arrangement, which we plan to continue moving forward. We also welcome you to apply if you are living outside Melbourne (although working in an Australian time zone is preferred), in which case you will work remotely. There will be some interstate travel required and potential for occasional overseas trips, both conditions permitting.

Your responsibilities will include:

Program Promotions 

  • Work closely with our partner universities to coordinate the promotion of our co-branded programs. You will use your creativity to devise new and innovative methods, as well as coordinating the tried and true: careers fairs and other promotional events; social media; and online and in person information sessions.
  • Coordinate our engagement with program alumni. This involves maintaining contact with them upon their return through events and other items of value and harnessing their energy to support our promotional campaigns.
  • Collaborate with our team in Indonesia to keep abreast of opportunities and incorporate those into promotional campaigns.

Branding

  • Manage International Internships’ website and social media channels.
  • Use your initiative and creativity to devise new and innovative ways to build the International Internships brand among new and existing stakeholders.

Business Development & Strategic Support

  • Contribute to the development of new student programs in collaboration with our institutional partners across the education sector.
  • Work with the management team at International Internships to develop our strategy as we selectively expand the scope of our work around the Australia-Indonesia relationship.
  • Contribute to the preparation of funding applications (predominantly New Colombo Plan).

Who Are You?

Required:

  • 3+ years of business development and/or marketing experience, with demonstrated results: We want you to bring your experience and knowledge to provide a fresh approach to what we do.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal: You will need to produce high-quality English language materials for audiences at all levels, from government funding applications, to emails to key stakeholders, to social media content for students.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, collaborate, communicate and influence: We have a wide array of stakeholders and you will need to adapt your approach for each.
  • Organised and strategic: You can identify opportunities, set goals and follow through to achieve them. You enjoy keeping on top of multiple projects at once and balancing priorities where required 
  • Driven and enthusiastic: We operate like a start-up – we are enthusiastic, innovative and passionate about our work. Our team feeds off each other’s energy, so we are seeking someone who thrives in this environment but who can also take a project and work independently at times. We communicate clearly with each other and are willing to accept and offer feedback to support each other’s development. 
  • Design skills and experience with Adobe Creative Cloud: We have a range of templates that we use to promote our different programs, which have all been created with Adobe InDesign. We are always looking for ways to innovate through adopting new software and will value your contributions.
  • Website CMS experience: Preferably WordPress, as this is what our website is built upon.
  • Experience developing marketing material: You are comfortable producing marketing collateral and familiar with relevant software.

Desired:

  • Experience in Asia, especially Indonesia
  • Experience working in the university or travel sector, especially outbound programs
