Kehati (The Indonesian Biodiversity Foundation) is Indonesia's first and most influential biodiversity program. It is an independent, non-profit organisation, which specialises in biodiversity conservation and preservation, and biological research management. Kehati was established on January 12, 1994 and has since gained international acclaim for its work and successes. Kehati is a grant making institution that has supported more than 1000 Biodiversity Conservation projects in all over Indonesia. The NGO focuses on three main Ecosystems: Agricultural, Forestry, coastal and small islands ecosystems, as well as species protection, and recognizes that Indonesia's most precious resource is its biodiversity. Kehati's mission is to achieve biodiversity conservation by means of building strategic alliance to secure community empowerment and to enhance participation of society.
The special project of Tropical Forest Conservation Actions is a debt for nature swap scheme between the United States and Indonesian government to conserve Sumatera's forest. Kehati, in collaboration with Conservation International, have been chosen by the government to manage the funding. The location of projects are Kerumutan-Kampar, Batang Toru landscape, Batang Gadis landscape, Kerinci Seblat National Park and the National Park of Leuser, Leuser Ecosystem landscape in Aceh.
Your Role:
Kehati requires an English speaking intern to perform the following duties:
- Assist in writing policy documents and feature articles regarding the organisation's current programs
- Assisting researchers on field trips to Sumatra
- And more to be announced, depending on events at the time of your internship.
Requirements:
Majors: Ideal candidates would have studied/currently studying Environment, public policy, journalism or international relations.
Language: Indonesian preferred but not necessary
Other: Ability to show initiative, work hard and be enthusiastic is essential. A passion for the environment and public advocacy will allow you to get the most out of this internship position!
