RSAD - A Refuge Centre for Street Children
|
|
Social work
|
RSAD is an organisation that provides accommodation, food, support and education for up to 16 street children/orphans, all under the age of 18. RSAD was established in 2000 by a group of students from Ikatan Mahasiswa Muhammadiyah (Muhammadiyah Student Association), while they were still studying at university. After working with street children in Yogyakarta, they wanted to assist them by providing them with a safe place to live.
Your Role:
You will work closely with the street children by developing programs related to communication and living skills. However, there is a fair amount of flexibility within the organisation to implement other types of programs. More specifically, roles such as
1. Implementing new programs;
2. Educational lessons; and
3. Generally playing games with the children and teaching them how to behave like kids!
Requirements:
Majors: Education, sociology, psychology, music, art, health or social work are particularly appropriate.
Language: English is necessary and Indonesian is preferred.
Other: Ability to show initiative, work hard and be enthusiastic is essential. Also, an interest in charity programs, building life skills, non-formal education or community development programs would be helpful.
