Research and Advocacy Organisation

Researcher and Report Writer

This Indonesian not-for-profit research and advocacy organisation is based in Jakarta, with branches across 17 provinces in Indonesia. Their focus areas are: social accountability for public services; public finance; and transparency. It conducts research and holds workshops and training sessions. It provides assistance to communities and develops models to help improve the quality of public service management across Indonesia.

Notable areas of current work include: How villagers are adapting to climate change; Raising awareness of community rights; Advocating for evidence-based policy-making; and gender issues.

Your Role

Your responsibilities and projects will be determined during the application process and will be dependent upon what is occurring at the time of your internship. Two possible areas for research are climate change (how villagers in East Java are adapting to climate change) and health (assisting people with disabilities to conduct their own advocacy). The report writing element involves creating reports for donors – writing the material and/or the report design – and writing material for the website. You will also most likely be involved in editing the English of your colleagues’ work.

Requirements

Majors: Open to any field of study. Students of Journalism and Public Policy are especially encouraged.
Language: Fluent English and at least a basic level of Indonesian are required.
Other: Preferred candidates will have previous internship experience and applicants must be self-disciplined and motivated.
