Law Reform NGO for Community and Ecology

Environmental and Community Protection and Rights

This not-for-profit NGO focuses on environmental law reforms, preservation and the rights of the affected indigenous and local communities throughout Indonesia. They have many partnering local groups where most of their fieldwork is completed and education is carried out.

This NGO aims to develop law reforms to create a legal system and practices that can deliver justice for marginalised communities, support ecological preservation and respect the values of humanity and social-cultural diversity.

Your Role

Your role and work will be somewhat dependent on your level of Indonesian, your interests and your area of study. Some possible tasks include:

  • Producing documents.
  • Managing social media.
  • Translation.
  • Researching and presenting similar efforts and policies in Australia surrounding environmental and indigenous rights.
  • Organising and attending meetings.
  • Educating locals.

Requirements

Majors: Open to a variety of disciplines including Law, Anthropology, Sociology, Environmental Studies and other areas of study related to the work they do.
Language: Fluent English and at least basic Indonesian are required.
Other: Applicants should be hard working, show initiative, and possess a genuine interest in the environment and human rights.
