International Human Rights NGO

International Relations

This NGO is a part of a worldwide movement of people who campaign for internationally recognised human rights. They believe that mass public pressure, expressed through effective forms of action, is critical in stopping human rights violations.

This organisation’s vision is of a world in which every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights standards. In Malaysia, the NGO is most active in their attempts to highlight the inequities that exist with political opposition parties and the electoral voting system.

Your Role

Your role will depend upon your area of study and what is happening at the time of your internship. However, likely tasks include the following:

  • Working on campaigns to raise awareness.
  • Lobbying key actors promote positive change.
  • Conducting research into areas of importance to the NGO.

Requirements

Majors: International Relations, Law, Media and Communications and related disciplines.
Language: Fluent English is required. Some Malay skills would be an advantage but are not essential.
Other: Interns should be passionate about human rights, eager to immerse themselves in their experience, and hard working.
