Human Rights NGO

Research

This NGO was founded with the goal of putting pressure on the Indonesian government to execute its international and constitutional obligations to protect, fulfil, respect and promote human rights in the country.

The NGO aims to:

  • Build collaboration and coordination with human rights advocacy workers around Indonesia and the world.
  • Build the capacity of human rights advocacy workers.
  • Effectively encourage and constrain the state to enforce and promote human rights.

Your Role

Your role will be as a researcher on a range of issues, although you may also be involved in daily tasks at the office. Your responsibilities will most likely involve the following:

  • Providing data to support the NGO in its advocacy of certain issues at meetings with government.
  • Contributing to books or other publications produced by the NGO.
  • Adding data to the NGO’s website and social media.

Research roles may focus on the following issues: LGBTI rights; freedom of expression; right to education; women’s rights; and Human trafficking in the ASEAN region.

Requirements

Majors: International Studies, International Relations, Human Rights, Law and Politics.
Language: Fluent English is required. Some Indonesian skills would be an advantage but are not essential.
Other: Interns need to be ready to work independently and take initiative.
