Government Embassy

Public Diplomacy

This embassy is the representative office of the government of a European country to Indonesia. It promotes the country’s culture, economy, and politics in Indonesia. It also offers consular support to its nationals in Indonesia and provides immigration services for Indonesians. It is also the primary civil authority for informing its government about developments in Indonesian politics, society, economics and the military.

In Indonesia, the embassy works with Indonesian government representatives, officers of multilateral organisations such as the UN, civil society actors and businesses to promote the country’s interests. It advocates for sustainable energy and marine resources, climate and forestry cooperation, peace and security, and human rights in Indonesia, as well as promoting arts and culture.

Your Role

You will support the Embassy’s activities during your internship. As the Embassy has a relatively small team, you will likely support many different areas of the Embassy’s work. Your tasks will likely include:

  • Supporting the preparation of key public diplomacy and political engagement events by helping in planning and preparation, and participating in meetings with stakeholders.
  • Assisting in the execution of key public diplomacy and political engagement events by accompanying Embassy staff, helping coordinate and run events, and meeting with partners during events and conferences.
  • Supporting the regular activities and duties of the Embassy.
  • Preparing reports and conducting desk research.
  • Delivering briefings on political developments and public diplomacy engagements for key Embassy staff.

Please note that you need to maintain an open and flexible mindset coming into the internship because, depending on the most pressing requirements of the organisation at the time of your internship, your role and responsibilities may change.
