China
 China is a culturally rich and diverse country that is transforming at an amazing rate. The growth of China’s economy has been one of the most frequent news items of the past decade and it is now generally accepted that China will take over from the US as the world’s superpower. This has taken an understanding of China and Chinese people from being useful to being imperative for anyone living or working in the international sphere - and with the rapid advance of globalisation, this is now a large percentage of the population.
 Beijing, formerly known as Peking, as well as being home to the Peking duck, is a city with as much culture and history as any in the world. Being surrounded by some of China’s centres for manufacturing, Beijing is also a hub for business and, as the nation’s capital, it is obviously the political centre as well.
You will live in a very central suburb of Beijing, so will get a chance to full immerse yourself in all of this. And, with sites such as the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and the Summer Palace all nearby, you will really get the most out of your time there.
